Ahh, it’s that time of year again. Resolutions…. the internet and social are abuzz with goals, intentions, workout equipment, and shoulds. Ah the shoulds… I should work out, eat “right” which… let’s face it, means something different to just about EVERYBODY, and changes depending on what year or day of the week it is. Coffee’s good this week, bad the next, butter’s bad, but now it’s not, let’s put it in our coffee and drink it every morning! SALAD! Now, Salad is the only agreed upon food that is good for you, unless you add cheese, dressing, croutons, and oh… Romaine… oh yeah, that lettuce’ll get you right now.
So I decided… instead of a word to guide my intentions throughout the year, or rigid goals and resolutions that you’ll be sad you made by month two (ahem… no sugar on your birthday) and have completely abandoned by month four, I thought I would have a little fun with it this year. (Whoo, run on! Did you read that in one breath?)
This year, I’m going to do one new thing a month. Whether it’s trying a new coffee, a new coffee shop, visiting a new small town, or trying a new experience, it just has to be different and outside the normal routine. No restrictions, or rules, just something fun and different, once a month.
I’ve decided that there will be no specifics- no who, what, where, why, when, or how. Just something with a bit of novelty to look forward to once a month.
This is not to say I won’t challenge myself later in the year. Nor am I saying anything negative about resolutions, goals, challenges, or the like. In fact, as I type this an episode of Tidying Up with Marie Kondo is starting to play in the background on Netflix. Who know what that may lead too. Right now, I’m keeping it light and fun, with a bit of novelty.
What are your New Year’s Resolutions for 2019?? Also… anything new you’ve tried and loved recently, that’s you’d recommend?
